5 Tidbits about what I’ve been up to!

I know I haven’t been posting very much, but partially that is because I’ve been really busy!  Here are a few of the things I’ve been up to the last couple of weeks!

I signed up for a half marathon!

SRMarathon

Yes I did!  When I didn’t make it into the Nike Women’s Marathon again (the third time was not the charm in this instance), I was a little bit bummed.  I caught myself thinking about other half marathons.  I don’t know why, or what happened, but I got an itch to run, and I wanted to run another half marathon, so I signed up for the Santa Rosa Half Marathon.

This will be my 3rd time completing this course.  This was my first half marathon.  When I ran it for the second time a year later, I got my current half marathon PR of 2:03.  I’m hoping to meet or beat that time this year!  I’ve got about 6 more weeks of training, and so far all my training runs have felt great!

I went to a murder mystery dinner!

MurderontheMenu

I’ve wanted to go to one of these for a very long time.  I’m not really sure why, I guess they always just seemed like a lot of fun.  Well, you know what?  It was a lot of fun!

This one was called, Murder on the Menu, and was held at the Tudor Rose English Tea Room in Santa Rosa.  The round tables were set up to promote getting to know your neighbor.  The actors came around and engaged with the tables, telling their story.  Each person was given a clue that they could share.  One of the most impressive things, was the actress playing the police detective, actually looked up different people who purchased tickets.  She said, “Where is Beki, aka Wild Child Gone Good?”  I have to admit, I panicked inside a little bit.  Then she listed a few things that she knew about me.  I played it off, but inside was like, “what the heck?!”  Then I realized, she found my blog and the 101 Things about Wild Child page.  Even though it freaked me out a little bit, the actors taking that kind of time to engage their audience was pretty impressive.  After the show, the actress came up to me and thanked me for being a good sport.

The one thing that was disappointing was the food.  The wine choices were good and the tomato basil soup was delicious, but the bangers and mash was not very impressive.

The event sold out and from where I was sitting it seemed like the majority of people were engaged and participating, which I felt really added to the fun!  There were several people who even dressed up!

This was so much fun and I would do this again in a heartbeat!

I started a new job!

I got a new job as an associate attorney with a new law firm!  I’m beyond excited to be putting my hard earned law degree to use.

MyOffice

I’ve got my own office (pictured above!) and the partners even have me scheduled to do a misdemeanor trial at the end of August!  I’m busy working on trial preparation!

I strung together 3 toes to bar!

I have a pull-up bar in my room.  Just about every morning I work on pull-ups (with bands) and trying to get my toes up to that bar.  I’m getting more consistent at getting 1 T2B, stopping and then maybe getting another one.  But last week, I strung together three T2B!  THREE!!!  I was so excited!

Sad face, I haven’t been able to do it since, and I don’t know why.  But I keep practicing.  Right now pull-ups (and getting to my first strict pull-up) and T2B are the 2 movements I’m focusing on.  I want to get these so badly.  So I will keep practicing, and practicing.  It won’t be much longer now until I’m consistently getting those T2B.  I’m still a few months away (I think) on the strict pull-ups though.

50 before 50 list

A few years ago (when I was 38), I made a list of 40 things I wanted to do before I turned 40.  I only completed 40% of the list before I turned 40, so I’ve decided to start a new list:  50 things I want to do before I turn 50.  I have to admit, the thought of turning 50 makes my stomach turn, but the thought of having a list of fun things to complete makes up for that!  So far, I’ve got about 30 of the 50 things listed out.  I just need to find 20 more things I want to do!  You wouldn’t think that would be so difficult, right?!
